School Days School Days

Today was the first day of school and it was great not just because it is a work day that I get paid for. I got paid for the previous week but I did not feel the same. The first day of school is unlike no other. Why, you might ask? because the week before even if it was filled with staff returning from their summer breaks with a number of stories about the trips they took and did not take. It's different with kids, they do not have complete control over their lives and school gives them what vacation does not semblance of order and an investment in the future.
When the students are tin the building, they breathe life into to . They perform CPR on an otherwise dying structure . If schools have a life's blood, it is the students that attend it. Over the years that I have been associated with Central high school, I have seen students come and go so full of life and hope. Many are still around and some are not .
As they breathe life into the school, they also breathe it into the staff. Our principal has been with the school district for 40 years and she does not seem to have missed a step. I think that secretly she has found the fountain of youth and it flows through the halls of Central high school.
